A high-level meeting was held on November 30, 2022, at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram for formulating steps to be taken for transforming Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation into a green city. The Meeting was chaired by Hon. Minister for Electricity Shri K Krishnankutty. Hon. Minister for Transport Adv. Anthony Raju was the chief guest.
The Meeting concluded with following decisions:
- All public buildings in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation will be solar powered with the financial assistance from Smart City project.
- ANERT will take the necessary steps for the implementation of the 100 MW Grid-connected rooftop solar power plants for domestic consumers, with subsidy from Govt of India,
- It has also been decided to set up EV charging stations at all possible places under the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation.
Municipal Standing Committee Chairman Shri D. R. Anil, ANERT CEO Shri Narendra Nath Veluri IFS, Smart City CEO Shri Arun K Vijayan IAS, EMC Director Dr R Harikumar and officials from Electrical Inspectorate, Transport Department and ANERT also attended the function.
